This professional learning opportunity is the third session in a four-part series around best practices of teaching reading. This self-paced course will explore the language comprehension portion of The Simple View of Reading (Gough & Tunmer, 1986). The Simple View of Reading is a foundational conceptual model every teacher should know how to apply in their classroom. From this course, participants will learn that when readers are able to derive meaning from spoken language, coupled with the mastery of decoding skills, they will then be able to comprehend what they read.
